Britain’s regulator closed the door on credit cards for gambling on 14 April 2020, and each UKGC licensee must apply the ban without exception. Brands licensed abroad, most often by the Curaçao Gaming Control Board, answer to a different rulebook. That is why Visa and Mastercard still go through at their tills.

The route in is short. Register, choose the card in the cashier, and decide before depositing which crypto wallet, e-wallet or debit card will receive your winnings.

We went through each cashier looking at accepted cards, deposit floors, limits and payout times. Two brands do not offer a card deposit in the form most readers expect, and we flag both clearly.

Ahead you will find the brand reviews, a side-by-side table, an explanation of the ban, the safety and cost checks that count, a troubleshooting ladder for declined payments, and a plain budgeting method with worked sums.

Casino Sites That Take Credit Cards, Reviewed Brand by Brand

Nearly every brand below carries a Curaçao licence and shows Visa and Mastercard at the till. Britsino is registered in Costa Rica and names no card scheme, while Lizaro documents no card option whatever. Each review covers the games, the bonus and the way money leaves the account, with the key facts in the table underneath.

Donbet — Ten VIP Levels for Players Who Stay Put

Pick Donbet if you want a big lobby plus a loyalty ladder with real steps in it. The slot lobby is led by Book of Dead, Sugar Rush and Magic Apple. On the live side you get Mega Wheel and a 500x Auto Roulette, and the mini-games tab holds Aero, Plinko and Dino.

Two tournaments are always running, and the slot race pays from a 50,000 free spin pool. Donbet’s Mafia Room VIP club has ten levels from Associate to Don, handing out rakeback, weekly cashback and spins along the way. Progress is slow on purpose, so regard it as a long-term perk and not a quick return on one card deposit.

NV Casino — Many Ways In, One Strict Way Out

On the deposit side NV Casino lists Visa, Mastercard and Maestro, plus Revolut, bank transfer, Skrill, Neteller, MiFinity, Paysafecard and over a dozen coins. The strictness sits on the exit: money must leave by the route that paid in.

Since gambling winnings cannot be credited to a credit card, funding by card here means arranging a second rail for the cash-out. Every rail has its own withdrawal minimum, and crypto lands while card payouts are still pending. Your exit choice therefore decides how long you wait.

Register the bank account or wallet you want to be paid on at the same moment you add the card. Leaving it until after your first win is the classic way to lose a day.

Cosmobet — Card Cashier With a Non-Stop Tournament Diary

Cosmobet speaks to leaderboard fans. Prize pools reset every three days and sit between £300,000 and £1 million, so a race is almost always open.

The table shows a casino welcome and, separately, a crypto match. Only the first is reachable with a card, so leave the crypto figure out of any plan built around Visa or Mastercard.

The lobby draws on Habanero, BGaming, Betsoft, Thunderkick, Playson, Evoplay and Blueprint Gaming, which gives more range than the site’s size would suggest. Weekly cashback and a sports welcome give returning players something extra beyond deposit one.

Goldenbet — Sportsbook First, Casino Second

Goldenbet tilts towards betting, with stake limits higher than the offshore average and the longest market list in this review set. Its welcome is divided between casino, sport and esports, so a card deposit made for slots claims just one strand.

The casino match comes back on deposits two and three. Reaching the advertised £1,500 therefore takes three planned card payments, not one big one.

A Slot Race restarts every three days, and the top 50 players split the prize each round. Slots come from BGaming, Play’n GO, Relax Gaming and Pragmatic Play, and the sports side adds bet builders and cashback.

HighSpin Casino — Slow Card Exit, Fast Crypto Exit

HighSpin Casino shows Visa and Mastercard next to Open Banking, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Neteller, Skrill, Bitcoin and Ethereum. What stands out is how differently the rails behave on the way out: coins arrive in 30 minutes to two hours, e-wallets inside a day, and cards after three to five working days.

Whatever you pay in with, winnings never go back onto a credit line. The card gets you in, and something else gets you out.

Watch the caps of €2,000 a day and €5,000 a week. A €12,000 balance would need three weeks (€5,000, €5,000, then €2,000), however quick the rail. Funding the account and unlocking a bonus are also two thresholds, at €10 and €20.

Identity checks come before your first payout and typically finish within 24 hours. Send the documents on day one, not on the day you win.

MyStake — Largest Game Library on This Page

No brand here has more games than MyStake, with 6,179 titles. It launched early enough to hold the longest public record of the group, and its Trustpilot rating comes from tens of thousands of reviews instead of a handful.

The welcome is paid in stages, so the full value depends on a planned sequence of card payments. Slots come from Booongo, Pragmatic Play, Play’n GO and Hacksaw Gaming, joined by MyStake’s own originals.

Card deposits are instant. Once funds arrive, you can spread them across the VIP club, tournaments, esports, sportsbook and racebook.

Freshbet — Fastest Approvals We Recorded

Freshbet pairs a clean layout with the quickest approval times in this set. Thunderkick, Betsoft, Evoplay, EGT Digital, Platipus and Push Gaming supply a lobby that leans hard towards slots.

Three offers run side by side: the casino welcome, a match open only to crypto, and a three-deposit option at a bigger percentage. Check which of them a card payment actually triggers before you pay.

The five VIP levels return cashback, rakeback and spins. Reach FreshKing at the top and the withdrawal ceiling climbs far past the offshore norm, which gives Freshbet the best high-stakes terms here.

WinBoost — No Operator Fee in Either Direction

WinBoost takes Visa and Mastercard as well as PayPal, Skrill, Neteller, Bitcoin, Ethereum and Litecoin. Its published fee position is the notable bit: the operator charges nothing when you pay in or when you cash out, although your card issuer or payment provider might apply a charge of its own.

Speed varies sharply by rail, with crypto first, e-wallets second and cards last. As no gambling payout is allowed to return to a credit line, the slow card timing really refers to a refund onto a debit card.

Verification comes first. Expect to provide photo ID, a proof of address no older than three months, and confirmation of the payment method. It usually clears in a business day.

Rolletto — Weekend Spins for Players With a Routine

Rolletto pays out for turning up on a schedule: a hundred spins on Saturday and another hundred on Sunday, each worth more than the weekend deals elsewhere in this group.

Qualifying costs far more than the cashier minimum. Weekend regulars should therefore choose the deposit to fit the promotion and not simply pay the lowest amount allowed.

Beyond that, you get a casino welcome and a distinct crypto route, and verifying your email address alone releases no-deposit spins before any money goes in. Red Tiger, Hacksaw Gaming, EGT and NetEnt fill the lobby. Prize pools are largest in the Slots Race and Grand Betting tournaments.

GQBet — Four Bonus Tiers Across Card, Bank and Crypto

GQBet is licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Control Board and its cashier covers cards, bank transfer, e-wallets and crypto. Getting in costs more than at most sites here, and the welcome is split over four tiers instead of one lump.

Funding that with a card means four separate payments. The full package is a schedule to plan, not a single transaction.

No payout times are given for each rail, and no offshore cashier returns winnings to a credit line in any case. Pick your exit method before the first deposit, since the fourth is a bad moment to learn what exists.

Velobet owns the biggest headline multiplier at any card cashier on the page, and the gap to second place is wide. A crypto bonus, a no-deposit reward for following the brand socially, and sports cashback come with it.

Joining the loyalty scheme costs much more than the cashier minimum, and in return you receive wagerless cashback, slot cashback, free spins and free bets.

The slot list opens with Gates of Olympus, Magic Piggy, Thunder Fruits and Steam Wilds, from simple three-reel designs to Megaways and bonus-buy games. PROGaming, SA Gaming, Lucky Streak and 7 Mojos operate the live tables, split between standard and VIP rooms.

Nationalbet — Missions, Points and a Store

Nationalbet swaps a flat cashback line for a points system. A mission could be a fixed number of spins on a particular slot. The points you collect are then spent in the in-game store on free spins, bonus funds or gifts.

A card deposit earns the standard casino welcome. The bigger match needs coins, so your payment rail limits the offer you can claim.

Reloads on Mondays and a separate casino reload keep the account active between welcome stages. Novomatic and Pragmatic Play provide the games, and tournament prizes arrive as cash, not bonus credit, which suits anyone who dislikes wagering.

30Bet — A Welcome You Can Actually Finish

30Bet offers cards, e-wallets and crypto, and has the smallest welcome package in the review set. Sizing a card deposit to a bonus you can complete is a very different undertaking from aiming at the £10,000 ceiling lower down.

Work it through for the £100 bonus at 35x: that is £3,500 of slot turnover inside a 30-day window, which fits comfortably around one deposit.

Wager-free cashback pays real money, so a poor run gives something back with no playthrough. Payouts go to a wallet, debit card or crypto, because no site on this page can send winnings to a credit card.

BetFoxx — Highest Bonus Ceiling for Credit Card Players

The biggest headline figure on the page belongs to BetFoxx, and nothing else is close. The design stays plain while the promotions carry the appeal.

Free spins come with no wagering at all, so whatever they win is cash as soon as it lands. A daily slots cashback and a separate sports welcome offer two more routes to value from a single card deposit.

Britsino — Fiat Listed, Card Schemes Not Named

Britsino lists fiat and crypto in its cashier but omits both Visa and Mastercard by name, so card support cannot be confirmed today. It is registered in Costa Rica, not licensed in Curaçao, which is a lighter framework than the rest of this page.

Expect a sizeable lobby fed by many studios and one of the largest advertised bonuses on the page, with the spin count quoted differently depending on the source.

Ask support which schemes clear before trying a deposit, and assume your payout will leave by another rail whatever they say.

Memocasino — Smallest Stake, Three-Part Welcome

Memocasino asks for the lowest commitment on the page and still pays a welcome in three parts. Memocasino operates as IntellogixSoft B.V. under a Curaçao licence, and counts as a recent arrival among UK-facing offshore brands.

The first deposit brings the match and spins; deposits two and three bring smaller offers. The cashier accepts cards, e-wallets and crypto, and the approval queue rather than the rail sets your wait.

You also get loyalty rewards, cashback, a daily wheel, tournaments and a mobile app. With no ranked VIP tiers, rewards stay flat and are not gated by level.

Lizaro — No Card Rail at All

Lizaro breaks the pattern. Its documented cashier contains Tether, Litecoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin and no card scheme. Put bluntly, a Visa or Mastercard deposit cannot be made here at the time of writing.

The compensation is scale. Behind the lobby stand Nolimit City, Hacksaw Gaming and Pragmatic Play, with Evolution running the live rooms.

Its welcome unfolds in stages, so it suits a planned run in coin better than a single top-up.

Why Your Card Stopped Working: The 14 April 2020 Ban

One regulatory change explains the whole page. From 14 April 2020, UK-licensed casinos, bookmakers, bingo sites and lotteries were all prohibited from taking a credit card as payment for gambling.

Responsibility rests with the operator. If a UKGC holder were to process such a payment it would be in breach of its licence, so refusal is absolute at British sites and no support agent can override it.

The Commission’s evidence at the time put the number of adults gambling in Britain at about 24 million, with roughly 800,000 of them paying by credit card. Within that group, signs of problem gambling were common enough to settle the argument. Later monitoring reported that most of the affected players simply stopped borrowing to gamble, rather than moving to a different borrowing route.

Crossing to an offshore site is not made illegal by any of this. British law places the compliance duty on licence holders, and a player depositing with a site licensed in another jurisdiction commits no offence. When forums say otherwise, they are mistaken: the site carries the regulatory obligations and you carry the financial ones.

What emerged is a divided market. UKGC brands accept debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and bank transfers, and nothing on credit. Offshore operators licensed elsewhere held on to Visa and Mastercard and added crypto alongside. If a British site refused you and a Curaçao one welcomed you, that divide is the reason.

How Offshore Cashiers Handle Cards

Practically every brand here operates under a Curaçao licence; Britsino, registered in Costa Rica, is the single exception.

The Curaçao Gaming Control Board is the regulator. Following the National Ordinance on Games of Chance reform it grants operator licences itself and no longer through the former master-licence chain. Its payment rules are its own, and they contain nothing like the UKGC’s ban.

Processing also looks different. Offshore cashiers send card payments via acquirers based outside the UK, so the entry on your statement may show an unfamiliar merchant name.

A number of UK issuers refuse these payments under their own policy, having blocked the gambling merchant category code. When a card fails offshore, suspect the issuer before the casino.

Bonus rules differ from British norms as well. Offshore welcome packages offer bigger match percentages and higher ceilings, and wagering rises in step. A 300% match at 40x does not automatically beat a 100% match at 35x; the multiplier and the eligible games decide. Check the game weighting before assuming slots and live tables count the same, because they seldom do.

Verification is driven by anti-money-laundering duties and not by a set timetable. Crypto deposits normally go through without a document request. Card payments and larger withdrawals prompt identity checks, with photo ID, proof of address and sometimes proof of the payment method requested. Supply them early and a first withdrawal takes hours instead of days.

How We Score Credit Card Casinos

Licensing is the first test. We confirm that the operator is on the Curaçao register, that its company details agree with the footer, and that the terms name a genuine corporate entity. If the licence number is absent, assessment stops there.

Second comes cashier behaviour: Visa and Mastercard displayed openly, a published minimum deposit, stated withdrawal limits and a straight answer on which rails pay out. A site that hides its limits behind a login scores below one that prints them.

Payout speed weighs most after that. An approval window of 24 to 72 hours is typical offshore, and anything longer needs a reason. Weekend handling counts as well: a Friday request that sits until Monday costs three days.

Bonus quality outranks bonus size. We compare the wagering multiplier, the cap on stakes while a bonus is live, the expiry and the game weighting. A hard bet cap on a 600% match can leave it worth less than an uncapped 150%, and wagerless spins nearly always beat a larger count of restricted ones.

Game range and providers are last. We want known studios, a live floor with more than a few tables, and filters by category and provider. Support is tested live, and 24/7 chat answering in minutes is the standard to meet.

Safety and Cost: What a Credit Card Deposit Really Involves

Card safety depends on three layers: the site, your issuer and your own limits. Take them in that order.

You can inspect the site. Look for a licence number that you can find on the regulator’s register, a cashier page protected by TLS and a company named in the terms. Read the withdrawal policy to see that it is published, and see whether support answers before you pay. If a site cannot state its own payout timescale, you have your answer.

The issuer adds protection. Card payments pass through 3-D Secure, meaning your bank approves each transaction, which defeats anyone trying stolen details on your account. Most operators tokenise the number rather than keeping it as plain text. What a credit card never offers is anonymity, because the payment carries your name and the casino can see it.

Costs surprise people. Plenty of UK issuers class a gambling payment as a cash advance, so there is a handling fee and interest running from day one, with no interest-free period. Foreign acquirers may also add a non-sterling transaction fee even if prices show in pounds. The issuer charges all of this, not the casino, so read your card terms beforehand.

The deciding issue is financial. A credit card spends borrowed money, and a bad session turns into a debt carrying interest. That is a different position from losing funds you already held. Set limits before depositing, not afterwards.

Declined Deposit? A Troubleshooting Ladder

Go down this list in order. Each step removes one possible cause before you try the next.

  1. Confirm the brand is offshore. A UKGC site will reject every credit card, with no exceptions.
  2. Read the cashier. Britsino names no schemes and Lizaro lists none, so check the brand genuinely offers Visa or Mastercard.
  3. Check the amount. A payment under the minimum, such as below £10 at most brands here, can fail without any message.
  4. Finish 3-D Secure. A pop-up you closed or a banking-app prompt you missed looks exactly like a decline. Retry and approve in time.
  5. Call your issuer. If the attempt never reached the casino, your gambling merchant code may be blocked. The bank can tell you in a minute.
  6. Switch to a debit card. It uses your own money and the same cashier takes it.
  7. Write to casino support. Give the time, amount and last four digits, never the full number.

A Short Glossary of Card Terms

  • Acquirer: the bank handling the casino’s card payments. Offshore sites use acquirers outside the UK.
  • Merchant category code: a four-digit label telling your bank that a payment is gambling. Issuers are free to block it.
  • 3-D Secure: the extra approval step, by banking app or text message.
  • Cash advance: how some issuers classify gambling charges, with a fee and interest from the first day.
  • Closed-loop withdrawal: a payout that must return by the method used to deposit, as at NV Casino.
  • Turnover: the total you must stake to clear a bonus, so £100 at 35x means £3,500.

Keeping Spending Under Control at Credit Card Gambling Sites

Start with a figure you set away from the site. Work out a monthly gambling budget from disposable income, which means whatever is left once rent, bills, food, savings and debt repayments are covered. Put it on paper. Any deposit that would break it is refused, whatever the night.

Stake sizing then shields the budget from one bad run. A sound guide is to stake between 1% and 5% of your bankroll each time. Take a £200 monthly bankroll: that gives £2 to £10 a session at most, and £2 spins if you want it to last. Risking 20% of your balance on a single spin is a coin toss that puts the whole month on the line.

Deposit limits make the site police the budget for you. Every operator listed allows daily, weekly or monthly caps in account settings. A new cap applies at once, but raising one is held back by a cooling-off delay. Loss limits attack the problem from the other side by halting play after a set shortfall, and session reminders help because time passes faster than money.

Recording keeps you honest. Note each deposit and withdrawal, with date, amount and site, in a spreadsheet or notes app. Your card statement provides the raw data, as gambling payments are listed clearly. Total the month and compare it with the budget. Most people who try this are surprised, and the surprise is the purpose.

One rule matters above the others: do not deposit to recover a loss. A loss is a finished event, and the next deposit is a new decision that has nothing to do with it. Chasing is what turns a controlled hobby into a problem, and it does so fastest with borrowed money. If you notice your hand going to the card straight after a losing session, close the tab and use the cooling-off tools in your account.

Budget Examples Using Figures From This Page

Numbers make the trade-offs concrete. Suppose you deposit £10, the usual minimum, to try a site. At 1% to 5% of a £200 bankroll, your stake sits between £2 and £10 per session, so one deposit covers one careful session and no more.

Now suppose you claim 30Bet’s £100 bonus at 35x. You owe £3,500 of qualifying slot turnover. At £2 a spin, that is 1,750 spins, which tells you at once whether the offer fits your time and budget.

A €12,000 HighSpin Casino balance would take three weeks to withdraw at €5,000 a week, so ask whether a balance that large should be on the site at all. Withdraw wins regularly instead of leaving them in the account.

How to Start at Visa and Mastercard Casinos, Step by Step

  1. Choose a site. Select a brand from the shortlist and look up its licence number on the regulator’s register before doing anything else.
  2. Create the account. Give your name, date of birth, email and address, pick GBP as currency and confirm your email.
  3. Limits before money. Open account settings and cap your deposits and losses before the first payment. A limit chosen early is far more likely to survive the first losing night.
  4. Verify now. Upload photo ID and proof of address immediately, so the checks are complete before the first withdrawal request.
  5. Pay in. In the cashier, select Visa or Mastercard, enter the sum and confirm the 3-D Secure request your bank sends.
  6. Decide on the bonus. Opt in only if the wagering, maximum bet and expiry window fit your play. Declining it keeps your balance freely withdrawable.
  7. Register a payout route. Add a crypto wallet, e-wallet or debit card in your own name, because winnings will not return to the credit card.
  8. Cash out. Submit the request, wait for approval, and expect money within 24 to 72 hours on the rails listed above.

FAQ

Are credit card casinos legal for UK players?

Yes. The prohibition applies to UKGC licensees and not to players, so depositing at an offshore site is no offence. What you give up is UKGC protection.

Why did the UKGC ban credit cards?

Its research linked paying by credit card with gambling harm, because stakes were borrowed. The rule started on 14 April 2020 and covers all licensed operators.

Can I withdraw winnings to my credit card?

Almost never. Money goes to a debit card, e-wallet or crypto wallet held in your name, so arrange one before you win.

Do UK banks block these deposits?

Some do. A bank may decline gambling merchant codes by its own choice, with no regulator involved, so a failure is often on the bank's side. One call to the issuer settles it.

Will my bank charge me for a casino deposit?

Often. Many issuers treat the payment as a cash advance and add a fee, with interest from day one, so read your card terms first.

What is the minimum deposit at these sites?

Usually £10 for the brands covered here, though a few ask about €20. The cashier shows today's figure and any higher bonus threshold.

How fast are withdrawals at credit card casinos?

E-wallet and crypto payouts normally land within 24 hours of approval. Bank transfers and card refunds need several working days, so choose your exit early.

Is identity verification required?

Yes. Anti-money-laundering rules mean ID checks follow card payments and bigger withdrawals at every site reviewed, so sending documents early prevents hold-ups.

Final Thoughts on Credit Card Casinos in the UK

Once you see where the rule sits, the answer is simple. UK-licensed brands cannot take credit cards and never bend, while Curaçao-licensed names like Donbet, MyStake, Freshbet and BetFoxx still show Visa and Mastercard at the till. For you it is not an offence, and the deposit lands in seconds.

The real reason to choose one over another is what the deposit buys. Freshbet pays fastest and lifts its ceiling to £50,000 at the top tier. MyStake has 6,179 games. BetFoxx adds 300 wagerless free spins to its match, and Velobet’s 330% is the largest multiplier on the page. Donbet’s ten-level Mafia Room rewards loyalty, and Memocasino lets you begin at £10 with a three-part welcome.

Whichever you choose, settle the exit first. Money comes back to a debit card, an e-wallet or a crypto wallet and never to the credit card that paid in. Fix a deposit limit before your first spin, keep each stake within 1% to 5% of the bankroll, and record every transaction.

Gambling is for adults aged 18 and over. Treat it as entertainment and not income, stake only what you can afford to lose, and remember that a credit card deposit is borrowed money to be repaid with interest.
